"Whilst I am pleased that Europe's leaders have finally agreed the Constitutional Treaty, I cannot condone the manner in which this has been dealt with. It does nothing to enhance Europe's reputation for people to see the TV images of men in suits leaping in and out of limousines, up and down red carpets, meeting in secret, while the public is left to speculate what the real arguments, if any, are about.
"It all looks like so much macho posturing. This can never be a good way to run a modern European Union - it has to change."
