Desperate measure says Lib Dem Euro MP on Tories' plans for immigration

6.21.29pm GMT Sun 23rd Jan 2005

Commenting on the Tories' announcement that immigration is key to their election plans, local Euro MP, Diana Wallis said today, "This is a desperate measure from a party in desperate trouble in the polls."

Liberal Democrat, Diana Wallis went on to say, "The announcement is especially pitiable in the week when we commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Would we have seriously told boatloads of Jewish children fleeing Nazi Germany in the 1930s, 'Sorry, we've filled our quota for this year. Come back next year'? "
