The Norwegian Liberal Party (Venstre) gained 8 seats in its most successful election since 1965.
"This is a great result for our sister party in Norway especially when you consider they had been a junior partner in Government over the past few years and that the other coalition parties took a real beating.
"The new left-wing Labour-led Government will not mean a fundamental change in Norway's relationship with the EU in the short-term at least but I wonder if this won't change over time. Not least because I think the Norwegian people themselves will want a debate on the country's relationship with the EU."
