Diana Wallis MEP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the European Parliament, today chaired an important peace conference in the European Parliament.

The conference entitled, 'South Asian Peace Processes', was the brainchild of Diana Wallis's Lib Dem colleague Emma Nicholson, and focused on Jammu and Kashmir and also on India and Pakistan's support for the Afghanistan Peace Process.

Diana said:

"I am delighted to be involved in the conference. Anything which helps the peace process in that part of the world must be encouraged. I think all of the participants took something away from the conference, in particular the need for greater economic cooperation and not least to continue dialogue on all sides."
