Grappling with Member's expenses issue not limited to Westminster

As Westminster grapple's with MP's expenses, the European Parliament begins to put its house in order too.

Diana Wallis MEP, as the Vice-President responsible for transparency, is implementing rules for new members which come into force in 2009. This will mean that all MEPs, from whichever EU country, will be paid the same salary and that MEPs travel expenses will be reimbursed the cost of tickets thus doing away with the current, and much maligned system.
